Australia Post’s Christmas stamps for 2017 allow senders of Christmas greetings to give their envelopes the celebratory touch, whether through a more traditional design or some lighthearted secular themes.
The Christmas 2017 and Christmas Island Christmas 2017 stamp issues, released on 1 November, include some specially embellished products to delight lovers of Christmas and to make sending greetings simple. Plus, there are two licensed stamp packs with a Christmas theme, a fun-filled gift for children of all ages.
Special products for Christmas 2017
This year’s two traditional Christmas designs each feature a painting of the Madonna and Child projected onto the façade of St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney as part of AGB Events’ Lights of Christmas digital sound and light display. The three secular-themed stamps contain bright and graphic imagery around the themes of joy and goodwill.
The product range includes booklets of 20 of each of the 65c self-adhesive stamp designs (the domestic Christmas card rate), including “card only” stickers. For that extra special touch, the Christmas tree and Gift designs are also available as part of an embellished sheetlet of 20, with foil highlights on the stamps. The sheetlets are available on their own or as part of a pack, which is perfect for gift-giving.

Illustrated by Shane McGowan, this year’s Christmas Island Christmas stamps and minisheet show Santa taking time out from delivering presents to practise his golf swing on Christmas Island’s spectacular golf course.
