As we head towards Christmas, we’re releasing an exciting range of collectables to suit a variety of interests, from fast cars and rock and roll to nature and history.

AC/DC

Get ready to rock! Out now are three postal numismatic covers (PNCs) that celebrate iconic albums released by Australian rock and roll royalty, AC/DC: High Voltage, T.N.T. and Back in Black. Each cover contains an uncirculated AC/DC coin from the Royal Australian Mint. Three further covers will be released in 2021, so stay tuned!

Australia Zoo: 50 Years

Out now is a postage paid envelope (PPE) that marks 50 years of Australia Zoo, the largest family-owned zoo in Australia and a world-renowned site for conservation excellence and education. When Steve and Terri Irwin became the zoo’s owners in 1992, attendance began to soar, as did Steve’s reputation as the “Crocodile Hunter”. Steve Irwin’s legacy lives on and is reflected upon each year on 15 November, which is internationally recognised as Steve Irwin Day.

60 Years of Supercars

Our nation’s fascination with supercars began 60 years ago with the running of the first Australian Touring Car Championship. To celebrate 60 years of touring car champions, we’re releasing a suite of licensed collectables on 23 November 2020.

There’s a stamp pack, containing 30 Map of Australia stamps from the Love to Celebrate stamp issue, together with photographs in the stamp tabs that highlight each champion car and driver – from 1960’s Jaguar Mark 1 3.4, driven by David McKay, to 2020’s Ford Mustang GT, driven by Scott McLaughlin. There are also three PNCs, featuring the 1971 Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1 (driven by Bob Jane), the 1983 Mazda RX-7 (driven by Allan Moffat) and the 1991 Nissan Skyline (driven by Jim Richards). Each PNC features an uncirculated coin from the Royal Australian Mint.

Bellingshausen’s Antarctic Expedition: 1819–21

On 24 November 2020, we’re releasing a PPE to mark the 200th anniversary of Bellingshausen’s Antarctic expedition of 1819–21. Fifty years after James Cook circumnavigated Antarctica, Russian naval officer Captain Thaddeus (Fabian) Bellingshausen led a historic voyage that took him farther south than Cook and disproved Cook’s assertion that land could not be reached in the southern ice fields.

The AC/DC High Voltage, T.N.T. and Back in Black PNCs, and the Australia Zoo: 50 Years PPE are available now, online, at participating Post Offices and via mail order on 1800 331 794, while stocks last.

The commemorative Bellingshausen Expedition PPE is available from 24 November 2020, from the channels listed above, while stocks last.

The 60 Years of Supercars collectables will be available from 23 November 2020, online and from participating Post Offices, while stocks last.
