Dear collectors,

Welcome to the last edition of the Stamp Bulletin for the year. We bring you festive tiding, with a preview of our three Christmas stamp issues.

The traditional stamp issue marking Christmas presents aspects of the story of Jesus’ birth through images from a 15th century illuminated manuscript. The scenes on the two stamps depict the Adoration of the Magi, shortly after the birth of the Christ Child, and the holy family’s Flight into Egypt, as they escape the wrath of King Herod. As well as the traditional issue, we release three festive Christmas designs that feature a fir tree, star and gift, represented through depictions of origami, or the Japanese art of paper folding. Our third festive season issue continues our light-hearted Christmas Island Christmas stamp series.

Being the end of the year, we are pleased to release the annual collection of Australian stamps. This illustrated book presents all the gummed stamp and minisheet designs comprising the 2019 Australian stamp program. It also includes an exclusive gummed minisheet of the Drought Relief stamp, released as a self-adhesive booklet last year to raise funds to support farming communities in need.

The launch of The Great Aussie Coin Hunt has seen the public visit Post Offices in the hope of obtaining all 26 A to Z coin designs through their change. These Royal Australian Mint coins are also available as a tube of all 26 designs. Randomly distributed through the coin tubes are limited-edition coins with a first-time Australia Post privy mark. This offers coin collectors an opportunity to add this unusual version of the coin to their collection. Details of the Great Aussie Coin Hunt products are on page 11.
