Australia’s Post’s annual collection publications provide the perfect way to appreciate the diversity of the Australian and Australian Territories stamp programs for 2017.

Not only are they an attractive way for collectors to obtain a full year of stamp issues, but they also illuminate the stamp themes via interesting text and impressive imagery. They are even a great introduction to stamp collecting and, of course, perfectly timed for Christmas.

Take a look back at the stamps of 2017

This year’s program has featured a diverse selection of themes, spanning military history (Centenary of WWI: 1917 and, quite recently, Women in War); humour, with Part 3 of the Fair Dinkum Aussie Alphabet series; and our natural world, including an issue on dragonflies, for Stamp Collecting Month, and we explored Australian succulents, magnificent caves, gorgeous gemstones and the incredible Heard Island. We showcased the built environment, with the Jetties stamp issue. Art-themed issues were diverse, with the Streeton and Nolan stamp issue, the striking Street Art stamp issue and the recently released Art of the North.

There were historical issues, too, featuring fascinating shipwreck tales and the works of Henry Lawson. We commemorated centenaries of Lions Clubs International and Australia’s first major infrastructure project, the Trans-Australian Railway, and we marked 50 years since Australia’s first satellite launch. Plus, we recognised the landmark 1967 Referendum, and three of our Indigenous leaders, who were named Australia Post Legends. We celebrated the Queen’s birthday, and we released a new Concession stamp featuring iconic Australian emblems.

The Australian Territories Collection of Stamps 2017

The Australian Territories Collection of Stamps 2017 presents the stamp issues from our Australian Territories program for 2017, spanning the Australian Antarctic Territory (AAT), Christmas Island, Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Norfolk Island.

This year’s Australian Territories stamp program was also diverse including historical issues, Christmas Island: Early Voyages, Norfolk Island Convict Heritage, Cocos (Keeling) Island Aviation and AAT Cultural Heritage. We showcased the natural world, too, with the release of Norfolk Island Flowers, Cocos Garden Fruits, Norfolk Island Waterfalls and East Antarctic Deep Sea Creatures. Plus, the Christmas Island Lunar New Year stamp issue focused on the Year of the Rooster; the collection includes the zodiac sheetlet from that issue. Total stamp face value is $42.45. Priced at $44.95.
