While summer is heating up in Australia, the 2018 Olympic Winter Games have begun in PyeongChang, Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea. Situated in the Taebaek Mountains region, approximately 180 kilometres east of Seoul, PyeongChang is popular with hikers, skiers and snow boarders throughout the winter. It is the first time Korea has hosted the Olympic Winter Games.
