This year’s 2016 World Stamp Show was held at the Javits Center in New York City from 28 May to 4 June 2016, and Australia Post was thrilled to be a part of this once-a-decade event.

Designated as a “World Stamp Exhibition” by the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP), WSS-NY 2016 provided show-goers with a unique experience, combining a passion for stamp collecting with the fun and excitement of everything New York City has to offer.

Organisers are anticipating over 250,000 people will pass through the show doors over the eight days to see a host of rare philatelic material including:

  • 4,100 frames of competitive exhibits
  • a Court of Honour and Invited Exhibits displaying priceless stamp rarities
  • first day ceremonies sponsored by the US Postal Service, UN Postal Administration and other nations

Australia Post was one of over 200 postal administrations and dealers participating. Stamp dealers were busy selling and buying philatelic material at the event. Australia Post  featured the latest Australian and Australian territories stamp issues, available for purchase at booth number 325.

To celebrate the release of the Beautiful Butterflies stamp issue, Australia Post released six exclusive show minisheets, with each version displaying different printing techniques. In addition, a limited number of foiled cancelled minisheets was released each day to Australia Post booth visitors at the show.
