Between Thursday 13 June and Sunday 16 June 2019, Australia Post will be attending the Sydney Stamp and Coin Expo 2019. This show is a full national-level, multi-frame exhibition and will incorporate the Australasian Philatelic Challenge and the Picture Postcard Challenge, where exhibitors compete in teams. The theme of the show is the centenary of the Treaty of Versailles, which was signed on 28 June 1919, at the Palace of Versailles, France, and laid out the conditions of peace with Germany at the conclusion of World War I.

The Australia Post booth will offer a range of philatelic and numismatic items for sale, including latest releases and many limited-edition, show-only collectables. Plus, there’s the chance to create your own foiled cover.

Show minisheet

A special show minisheet will be released, featuring the Sydney Cricket Ground stamp and Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre stamp from the Sports Stadiums stamp issue (released on 4 June 2019).

A special daily numbered versions of the minisheet will be available exclusively at the show. There will be 500 released each today, featuring the daily coloured postmark.

Sports Stadiums medallion cover

Featuring an attractive Sydney Cricket Ground medallion, the Sports Stadiums medallion cover will be on sale at the show.

Treaty of Versailles postal numismatic cover

The Treaty of Versailles postal numismatic cover (PNC) will also be available for sale at the show. Containing an uncirculated $1 coin from The Royal Australian Mint with a “liberty and justice” design, the cover artwork showcases a 1919 painting of the treaty signatories in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles.

A special numbered version of the PNC, with a different colour scheme to the original, will be available exclusively at the show. There will be 200 released on each day of the show, with the daily coloured postmark.

D-Day PNC

A PNC to commemorate the 75th anniversary of “D-Day” will be available for purchase at the show. D-Day marked the beginning of the allied incursion into Nazi-occupied France to liberate north-western Europe from German control, beginning in the early hours of 6 June 1944. The PNC contains an uncirculated $1 coin from the Perth Mint.

A special numbered version of the PNC will be available exclusively at the show, with a different colour scheme to the original. There will be 200 released on each day of the show, with the coloured daily postmark.

Rum Rebellion PNC

The deposing of Governor William Bligh on 26 January 1808, which years later became known as the “Rum Rebellion”, is the only military coup in Australia’s history. A PNC commemorating the Rum Rebellion will be on sale at the show. It contains a $1 uncirculated coin from The Royal Australian Mint.

A special numbered version of the PNC will be available exclusively at the show, also with a different colour scheme. There will be 200 released on each day of the show, with the coloured daily postmark.

NSW Colony: Convict Past sheetlet

The Convict Past stamp issue commemorates the 150th anniversary of the last convict ship to arrive in Australia; the Hougoumont docked at Fremantle in 1868. As part of that issue, a New South Wales Colony stamp was released. This stamp forms part of a special sheetlet of 10 for the Sydney Stamp and Coin Expo. The sheetlet, available in a sheetlet pack, is punctured and overprinted using many past practices, including the “OS” (On Service) perforation.

Create your own foiled cover at the show!

A blank cover has been created especially for the Sydney Stamp and Coin Expo. Customers can purchase the cover at the show and then watch it being cancelled by the Australia Post Sprintpak team, using an on-site foil postmarking machine. A different foil colour will be available for each day of the show. Please note that this product will only be available at the show, between 13 and 16 June 2019.

Show daily postmarks

The daily show postmarks correspond with the key allied forces during World War I: France, Britain, Australia and New Zealand, and the United States of America.
