Hello Collectors

Welcome to the final edition of the Stamp Bulletin for the year with news of Australia Post’s attendance at the planned Perth Stamp and Coin Show in November.

In this edition of the Stamp Bulletin, we celebrate one of the world’s most iconic buildings with Sydney Opera House: 50 Years. The two stamp designs draw attention to the building’s north and west elevations.

We also present a single stamp design to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, and two stamp designs to mark the 75th birthday of the new monarch. One of the two stamp designs from the King’s Birthday stamp Issue presents a photograph of a young Prince Charles on arrival in Sydney, before attending Geelong Grammar’s Timbertop campus in Victoria, in 1966. A highlight of these two issues is a special presentation pack that includes all three stamp designs.

This year’s traditional Christmas stamp designs infuse some Australian aesthetics into the Christmas story, including the Southern Cross installation and native flower motifs. The mixed media illustrations combine watercolour, gouache, ink and pencil, with a soft yet bright colour palette. The secular designs include seasonal activities, such as trimming the tree and the sending of greetings.

This year’s Christmas Island Christmas stamp issue Santa, along with his helpful friends, approaches the island by boat filled with gifts and glad tidings for the festive season ahead.

We hope you enjoy the featured collectables, including a range of sporting-themed products. Also available are the annual collections of 2023 featuring the stories behind the stamp issues – the perfect Christmas gift!
